Since Monty Don introduced me to the wonders of the Japanese garden, I’ve been slightly obsessed with bamboo and the possibilities of curating the plant for printmaking purposes. Its also one of the few non-squishy leaves around at this time of year.
We used a technique I learnt recently from the Curious Printmaker, inking two plates, laying a plant between them as passing the sandwich through the press. The resulting two plates offer endless opportunities for taking prints.
It took us a while to get the process into our minds but by the time coffee break came around nobody wanted to stop. Though Tina’s mum’s wonderful cakes lured us in.
